Shazam, a free iPhone application, helps you identify songs anywhere you go. Just hold up your phone to the music, wait 10 seconds, and Shazam tells you the artist, song, year, and gives you links to download it. You can learn more about Shazam here.

Skinny Jean is a little known band from Australia, but they’ve got a great song called “Anhedonia.” FYI, anhedonia means “the inability to take pleasure in activities one would normally find enjoyable.”

The soundtrack to this summer’s movie 500 Days of Summer has a lot of great songs.
We’re starting off the soundtrack’s highlights with “You Make My Dreams” by Hall and Oates. The song plays during Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s dance sequence.
I saw a recent video of Hall and Oates playing “You Make My Dreams Come True” at the Troubadour in LA — definitely not as good as the album version.
The Young Veins — Ryan Ross and Jon Walker — have a new song called “The Other Girl.”
iTunes has a great new celebrity playlist by Drew Barrymore and Ellen Page.
Promoting their movie Whip It, Barrymore and Page have compiled a list of their favorite songs. They made a 30 minute podcast describing and playing clips of the songs.
