The Frank & Walters’ cover of “Cemetery Gates” by The Smiths is interesting:
- The vocal phrasing is more restrained and has a different timing than the original.
- The bass line drives the song and provides a suspenseful, almost ominous tone that the original song lacks.
- When the guitar strumming comes in, though, the cover veers a bit closer to the original’s more cheerful/upbeat sound.
