Hilary Duff released the song “I Can’t Wait” in 2002. 17 years later, I just discovered that the song is in fact a cover!
Here’s the Hilary Duff cover version, along with the original “I Can’t Wait” (by Brooke McClymont — with a few different lyrics), and a Japanese version of the song (by Chieko Kawabe):
Lizzie McGuire originally aired from 2001 to 2004, but it wasn’t until 2017 that Disney released the TV show’s full theme song.
For the first time, you can hear the song’s second verse, which sounds like it was created as an alternate take for the theme song:
